Cameo 7 – The Experience of Revelation

January 19, 2021

This essay highlights Helen’s experience of Revelation, which came about after she was able to let go of her fear enough to allow her superconscious, the part of her that is in communion with God, to express itself in her prayer for help in being helpful to Bill. “Revelation is the experience of God revealing Himself to us.”

In miracle principle 24 we learned that “miracles need freedom from fear.” (24.3:6) This is where we learned that sin is now to be understood as an absence of love and that just because this causes a vacuum it does not mean it needs to be filled with fear. What this vacuum calls for is to be filled with love. Therefore Helen was able to let go of her fear enough to truly want to be helpful to Bill by leaving her desire to help him in God’s hands. She no longer had any self concern to protect. “Your revelation occurred specifically after you had engaged at the visionary level in a process of denying fear.”

Helen’s description of this experience might make us think that seeking it would be desirable. Jesus tells her that for now it is more desirable to learn to give miracles. This is because, although she has a great capacity for experiencing revelation it is not stable because she vacillates so wildly from extreme fear to no fear. Bill should not strive for revelation either because his fear has rendered in him “a suspended state which keeps him more comfortable but mitigates against both extremes, leaving him unable to be aware of his fears enough to deny them and have a revelatory experience. “Miracles are the essential course of action for both of you. They will strengthen him and stabilize you.”

The fact that this whole experience opened the door to more personal than usual notes gives us a clue as to how to receive guidance more deeply. The more we are able to deny fear we will become more open to a deeply personal relationship with Jesus. In the same way we need to understand that in order to experience the presence of God freely and fully, we must learn to actively use miracles to undo our fears. When we learn to deny fear we will naturally open to a deeply personal experience of God.

Questions for Reflection:

1.       How are my fears inhibiting my ability to give miracles?

2.       Am I vacillating from extreme fear to no fear, or am I in a suspended state that mitigates against both extremes? How can I use this understanding of myself to deny fear?

3.       Where can I start to allow Jesus to guide me to awareness of my fears and use miracles to undo them in order to be helpful to my brothers?

Suggested Practice:

Lord, I will leave my desire to help my brother(s) in Your Hands. If you will tell me what to do I will to do it.
