Chapter 3.II – Special Principles for Miracle Workers

March 10, 2021

This is a short but powerful section that emphasizes what we have learned about being miracle workers. Jesus makes seven points about what we need to keep in mind as we continue in our miracle working apprenticeship program with him.

1.       “The miracle abolishes the need for lower-order concerns.” (1:1) Remember that the lower-order is the physical or material order. All things having to do with the care and maintenance of the body is found in the lower-order of concerns. This level will be totally controlled by Christ and “when you perform a miracle, I (Jesus) will arrange both time and space to adjust to it.” (1:4) This is quite a statement! It is an understanding that will become evident the more we use these important points to frame our miracle working endeavors.

2.       “A clear distinction between what was created and what was made is essential.” (2:1) What was created is the higher-order and what was made is the lower-order. Therefore, what was made was miscreated. This is the fundamental error. We must remember this because “all forms of correction (or healing) rest on this fundamental correction in level perception.” (2:2)

3.       “…never confuse right-mindedness with wrong-mindedness.” (3:1) Right-mindedness is the state of creation. Wrong-mindedness results in miscreation. When miscreation happens the only proper response is a desire to heal it with a miracle. Anything else is an expression of level confusion. Any response to level confusion that is not the desire to heal, therefore, is not healing but a further expression of the original error.

4.       “The miracle is always a denial of this error and an affirmation of the truth.” (4:1) We need to access our own right-mindedness in order to be effective in offering truly effective miracles or healing. Remember that wrong-mindedness, although it needs healing, has no real existence and therefore no real effect except emptiness. As we learned in the miracle principles this emptiness is a lack of love, which creates a vacuum. This vacuum, which is lacking in love, needs to be filled with love. As a result, the error of miscreation and the resultant emptiness (love lack) is denied and the truth of creation is affirmed.

5.       “The level-adjustment power of the miracle induces the right perception for healing.” (5:1) We need our own confusion corrected before attempting healing. Without this correction we cannot understand healing and our own attempts to forgive will remain judgmental.

6.       “Miraculous forgiveness involves only correction.” (6:1) We only perceive in another the need for level confusion correction, that is, there is an error in thinking that needs healing. There is no judgment involved, only the understanding of the need for filling that emptiness with what is lacking. We understand that this person “knows not what they do… in an appeal to God to heal their minds.” (6:3,4) We do not worry about the lower-order or the outcome of their misthoughts because “this does not matter.” (6:5) All we want to do is to respond to the need for healing with a desire to heal.

7.       “The biblical injunction ‘Be of one mind’ is the statement for revelation readiness.” (7:1) Jesus needs us to give miracles in remembrance of him. We perform miracles in time because “in time we exist for and with each other.” (7:5) We correct the errors of separation in order to bring about the understanding that we exist for and with each other. Existing for and with each other means we are moving toward the understanding that we are “of one mind”. This is how we learn of timelessness and in timelessness, we are ready for revelation, the coexistence with God.

Reflection:

Spend some time in reflection with these seven special principles today. It may help to journal a bit to get the sense of them more fully in your mind. Try to make them your own—a go to reference for the sequence of preparing yourself for miracles and for giving miracles. Try at least once today to use these points to offer a miracle to someone else.

Suggested Practice:

I let go of judgment today and respond to miscreation with only the desire to heal or offer miracles.
