Miracle Principles 1-3 (T-1.I.1-3)
January 4, 2021
These three miracle principles give us an interesting and fresh insight into what A Course in Miracles will teach us about what miracles are.
There is no order of difficulty in miracles! This is quite a challenge to accept. To raise the dead is no more difficult than expressing love rather than hate; no harder; no bigger?
Miracles do not matter, in fact, they are unimportant! How can miracles not matter? If they are not important, why do we need this Course?
“Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love.” (3:1) Now we are starting to gain a glimpse of what these first 2 principles mean! Miracles have something to do with love. How does this compare with the way you have viewed miracles? I never really thought about what miracles were before. They seemed magical and unattainable to the ordinary person. But here we are told they are natural expressions of love.
The source of miracles is love and it is love that is important. Love is something we are not qualified to evaluate or understand. What we need to learn is that this expression of love through miracles is our natural expression and that each expression is maximal, whether it is raising the dead or offering a kindness. This is why they have no order of difficulty. These expressions are always maximal in strength.
“You will see miracles through your hands through me.” (subtitle) This may be a clue. Maybe, by following Jesus we will learn to let go of our plans and allow Jesus to teach us the universal plan.
Right here, in the first 3 principles, we are learning that miracles are naturally occurring expressions of love. That they are maximal as expressions of love. That they have no order of difficulty and that we will be directed in using them in a specific way. “Miracles mean life and God is the giver of life,” (4:1) therefore, miracles are the expressions of life and God must then also be love.
Try to study for the “quiz” by reading over these three principles a few times today. See if you can memorize them and repeat them for Jesus this evening.
Suggested Practice:
I offer only expressions of love today, accepting Jesus’ strength to support me.
